Out and About is a four-week class designed to help dogs and handlers build confident, connected loose-leash walking skills in real-world environments. Each week, class will meet at a different public location, giving teams the opportunity to practice navigating new spaces, everyday distractions, and changing environments together. Through positive, reward-based training, teams will work on practical loose-leash walking while strengthening communication, confidence, focus, and teamwork.
Throughout the course, teams will focus on:
Building confident, connected loose-leash walking
Helping dogs remain engaged around real-world distractions
Developing calmer, more thoughtful movement in public spaces
Introducing heel position and beginning handler footwork
Practicing fronts and recalls
Learning both left and right finishes
Improving body awareness and handler-and-dog positioning
Building skills that may be useful for rally and obedience
Although this class will introduce several skills commonly used in rally and obedience, it is not a formal rally or competition-obedience class. The primary focus will remain confidence-based loose-leash walking and working together successfully in public environments.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM at a different location each week:
September 8: Peachwood Park, West Valley Citty
September 15: Summit Park, Taylorsville
September 22: Jordan River Parkway, 5300 South Trailhead, Murray
September 29: International Peace Gardens at Jordan Park, Salt Lake City
Exact meeting instructions and parking information will be emailed to registered students before each class.
Current Quibells ’n Bits students who would prefer a four-week class with fewer obedience-based exercises may contact us at ask@quibellsnbits.com about joining our Confidence Class. This option is available only to pre-existing students.
