Handler Discrimination Foundations is a six-week introduction to AKC and UKC Novice Handler Discrimination for dogs who already search odor and have a recognizable indication.

Your dog will learn to find YOUR scent. First they learn to recognize the target, then we build toward each organization's Novice container search. The final class is a mock trial day with separate AKC and UKC runs.

In this class, you'll learn how to:

Introduce your scent as a new target
Let your dog search independently without pointing out the answer
Handle the AKC judge-scented article as a non-target
Practice the UKC 12-box line and the cue that is allowed

No Handler Discrimination experience is required.

Bring a handler-scented cotton glove or sock. UKC re-cues use your hand only.

The class is taught in person by Jessica Gutmann on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 PM: November 11, 18, 25, and December 2, 9, 16.
