Canine Good Citizen is a four-week course designed to help dogs develop the manners, confidence, and life skills needed to be successful members of the community. Through positive, reward-based training, teams will build practical skills that support everyday life while preparing for the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Community Canine Advanced (CGCA) evaluations. The class will be held on Fridays at 7PM and begins July 10th. No class will be held on July 24th.
Throughout the course, teams will focus on several key areas:
Building teamwork and communication between you and your dog
Developing polite greetings with both people and dogs
Teaching calm behavior around distractions and in public settings
Improving loose leash walking and handling skills
Building reliable sit, down, stay, and recall behaviors
Helping dogs become comfortable with handling, grooming, and examination
Strengthening focus and engagement in busy environments
Developing confidence, self-control, and real-world manners
Preparing for both the CGC and CGCA evaluation requirements
The Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations are included with your registration. Testing will be held on August 14th, and teams will have the opportunity to earn both their AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and AKC Community Canine Advanced (CGCA) titles.
